What questions should you ask when looking at an email?

  • Are you expecting this email?
  • Do you know the sender?
  • Does the subject line match the content of the email?
  • Was the email sent during normal business hours?
  • Are the sender and the signer the same?

Email Red Flags

  • Misspelled words
  • Poor grammar
  • The email is threatening you or someone you know
  • The sender is asking for money or gift cards
  • When hovering the mouse over the provided link the pop-up address doesn't match the visible one
  • You’ve won a lottery that you didn't enter
